There are actually five misperceptions that are common when it comes to hiring an individual with a permanent injury, illness, or impairment. Let’s take a look at the first one.

Misperception 1. Individuals with disabilities are unable to meet performances standards. Reality. Research studies have shown that employees with disabilities rank at the same level or higher then employees without disabilities when it comes to meeting performances standards.

When given the opportunity, individuals with disabilities become valued assets to your company or organization’s staff. Often, the biggest obstacle the individual faces comes not from his or her disability, but rather from the misunderstanding or bias that employers and fellow employees have towards disabilities.
