There are currently more than 800 million active Facebook users worldwide and more than half log on to the website each day, according to numbers provided by Facebook. The average user is connected to 80 pages that have to do with local events, groups or businesses. The micro-blogging service Twitter reports that, on average, 230 million messages are broadcast each day. Meanwhile, the online video service YouTube has an estimated 490 million unique visitors per month; and according to the company, nearly 17 million people have connected a YouTube account to at least one social service like Facebook or Twitter.
